Tyre Safety Awareness with the WI (Women’s Institute)
Client: Women’s Institute (multiple branches across the UK)
Service Delivered: Tyre Safety Awareness Talks
Audience: Motorists from a broad range of driving experience and age groups
Overview
Over the past few years, I have delivered a series of tyre safety sessions to Women’s Institute groups across the UK. These sessions were designed to engage everyday drivers with crucial but often overlooked information about tyre safety, performance, and the impact of tyre condition on modern vehicle technology.
Challenge
Many WI attendees admitted they had never received guidance on tyre safety or understood the link between tyre performance and vehicle handling—especially in wet weather or during emergency situations. Most believed that as long as tyres had visible tread, they were safe. This widespread gap in knowledge posed a serious safety concern.
Our Approach
Each session was delivered in person and tailored to the group. We used practical demonstrations, real-life case examples, and simple technical explanations to show how tyre quality affects braking, grip, and stability. We also explored how poorly performing tyres compromise modern vehicle safety systems like ADAS.
Outcomes
100% of attendees reported learning something new about tyre safety
Many described the session as “eye-opening” or “a real wake-up call”
Attendees felt more confident asking the right questions when purchasing tyres
WI organisers described the talks as “hugely informative” and “relevant for all drivers, not just car enthusiasts”
Feedback
“We were amazed by how much we didn’t know. This was the most useful talk we’ve had in years.”
– WI Group Coordinator, Cambridgeshire
Conclusion
Our work with the WI demonstrates how powerful tyre safety education can be when delivered in an accessible, engaging way. Tyretalk is committed to expanding these sessions to more groups, helping drivers across the UK make safer, more informed decisions on the road.

Tyre Safety Education for New Drivers
Client: Colleges, Sixth Forms & Youth Driver Programs
Service Delivered: Tyre Safety Awareness Sessions
Audience: New and young drivers (typically aged 17–20)
Overview
Tyretalk has delivered engaging tyre safety sessions to students at colleges and sixth forms across the UK, focusing on new and inexperienced drivers. The aim was to equip them with vital knowledge about tyre safety and vehicle handling—knowledge they rarely receive during driver training but which could save lives on the road.
Challenge
Young drivers are statistically more likely to be involved in road traffic incidents, often due to inexperience and lack of vehicle knowledge. Many are driving older cars bought cheaply, often fitted with low-quality or worn tyres. Most had no awareness of the impact of poor tyre performance—particularly in wet or high-speed conditions on rural roads.
Our Approach
Tyretalk delivered interactive, age-appropriate sessions using real-life scenarios, visuals, and relatable examples. We explained the role tyres play in grip, braking, and handling—especially when paired with modern vehicle safety technology like ADAS. Students were encouraged to ask questions and take away key points that could influence how they check or choose tyres.
Outcomes
High levels of engagement from students, with active participation throughout
Students reported increased confidence in checking tyres and asking the right questions when replacing them
Staff praised the sessions for being both informative and highly relevant to this at-risk group
The sessions helped highlight how tyre safety ties into broader road safety themes already being taught in schools and colleges
Feedback
“We didn’t realise how much difference a tyre can make. This was one of the most practical and eye-opening talks we’ve had about driving.”
– Student, Barnsley College
“As a parent and an educator, I found it incredibly valuable. This should be part of every driving education program.”
– Sixth Form Tutor, North Yorkshire
Conclusion
By targeting young drivers at a critical point in their journey, Tyretalk is helping embed tyre safety awareness early on.
These sessions are not only educational but can play a vital role in reducing preventable accidents caused by poor tyre condition or uninformed tyre choices.

Training Tyre Retailers for Safer Roads and Better Business
Client: Independent Tyre Retailers, National Chains, Franchises
Service Delivered: Tyre Safety Awareness & Tyre Sales Training Sessions
Audience: Front-of-house staff, sales advisors, and technicians
Overview
Tyretalk has worked with tyre retailers of all sizes across the UK, delivering practical training that improves both road safety awareness and tyre sales effectiveness. These sessions help staff understand the true value of well-engineered tyres and how to communicate that value to customers confidently and correctly.
Challenge
Many tyre sales interactions are rushed, focused only on price and size, with little discussion around tyre quality, performance in adverse conditions, or the impact on vehicle safety systems such as ADAS. This results in missed opportunities to educate motorists and often leads to unsafe tyre choices.
Our Approach
We deliver engaging, hands-on sessions that bridge the gap between technical product knowledge and effective customer communication. Staff learn the key differences between budget and premium tyres, the role of tyres in vehicle safety systems, and how to guide motorists toward informed, safer decisions.
Topics include:
Tyre performance beyond the legal limit
Importance of correct tyre positioning (e.g. best tyres to the rear)
EV tyre specifications
OE vs aftermarket considerations
Linking tyre performance to ADAS
Outcomes
Staff became more confident in providing informed advice, not just prices
Sales of 'better engineered' tyres increased due to stronger customer understanding
Retailers reported improved customer satisfaction and trust
Safer, better-informed tyre choices by motorists on UK roads
Feedback
“The training changed the way our team talks about tyres. It’s no longer just about price—it’s about safety, performance, and trust.”
– Owner, Independent Tyre Retailer
Conclusion
Tyretalk training empowers tyre retailers to deliver real value to motorists. By improving product knowledge and sales confidence, we help businesses grow while making a genuine difference to road safety.

Tyre Safety Talks for Employee Driver Safety
Client: Various UK Employers and Fleet Operators
Service Delivered: Tyre Safety Awareness Sessions
Audience: Employees driving for work purposes
Overview
Tyretalk has delivered tyre safety awareness sessions to employees across multiple industries as part of corporate duty of care and driver safety initiatives. These sessions help employers meet health and safety responsibilities while protecting staff who drive as part of their role—whether in company vehicles or their own.
Challenge
Many drivers lack basic understanding of tyre condition, performance differences, and how this impacts braking, grip and vehicle control. Employers often assume tyre safety is managed during servicing, but neglect driver education—particularly around legal minimums, correct pressures and load ratings.
Our Approach
We delivered tailored, on-site sessions that made tyre safety practical and easy to understand. The content covered the connection between tyres and modern vehicle safety systems (such as ADAS), the risks of underperforming tyres in real-world conditions, and how staff can quickly identify tyre issues before they become critical.
Outcomes
Improved employee understanding of tyre safety and vehicle handling
Increased confidence in daily vehicle checks and safe tyre choices
Positive feedback from health and safety teams for supporting compliance
Demonstrated commitment by employers to protect staff on the road
Feedback
“This session opened our eyes to just how much tyres matter. A clear and necessary part of our driver safety policy.”
– HSE Manager, Logistics Company
Conclusion
Tyretalk’s employee tyre safety sessions help bridge a key gap in driver safety. By educating employees, businesses enhance their duty of care, reduce risk, and reinforce a safety-first culture on the road.
